"Thanks for an amazing trip to Canada" - R Wilkinson Aug 2011
"What an adventure and thanks to Mike & Lyns from Mountain-and Sea Guides. Trip of a lifetime and still smiling" - P. Fidler 2011
"Mike and Lyns...it was truly amazing and I still smile at the orca experience. Got some fab photies too!" - A. Macleod Sep 2012
"Thanks Mike - the trip exceeded all expectations! You gave us close encounters with humpback whales, orca, stellar sea lions, pacific white sided dolphins, porpoises, bald eagles, kingfishers and even a pilot whale. And all of this surrounded by fabulous scenery, kayaking through channels between islands, past majestic forests and waters rippling with salmon. Mike is a superb guide. Wildlife moves around and Mike knows the area so well he found even the most elusive species and got us close to the wildlife action. He also kept us safe - we didn’t want to be the first of Mike’s clients to get eaten by an orca! Mike runs a tight camp, everything is well organised and Mike is also a good cook. There is something magical about sitting around a campfire after a good meal, sipping a nice malt and watching humpbacks tail slapping and breaching. Well done Mike – 10/10 from us! We will definitely be kayaking with you again" - Willie Macallan & David Nicol Aug 2014
"Difficult to express how much we enjoyed our Vancouver Island kayak expedition with Mountain and Sea Guides. felt so sad when it was over. Looking forward to some winter mountaineering with Mike next year" - Pat & Kerry Brears Aug 2015
My wife and I joined Mike on his 9 day Vancouver Island expedition last month and had an amazing time. The scenery and wildlife was fantastic, with many sightings of orcas, humpbacks, porpoises, bald eagles and more. Mike is a really friendly and very experienced guide and knows the area very well from over 20yrs of expeditions! I highly recommend joining him on any of his courses and expeditions. Our eyes are now on his Lofoten trip sometime in the near future hopefully :-) - Mike Bottemley

Sea Kayaking in Canada can't be beaten! "Everyone who loves paddling and loves wildlife should do this trip" - D. Fisher 2011 expedition
Johnston Strait is famous for its Orca whales, Bald Eagles and numerous Sea Lion colonies. But it’s the Orcas that people really visit this area for. As one of the most studied groups of Orca on the planet much is known about the family groups that live here all year round and sightings from a sea kayak are a unique and special experience. The area is also well known for its Black Bear population and, although a bit shy compared to the Orcas, sightings may be possible.
As part of a one week expedition we’ll travel on a self sufficient basis, fully equipped, island hopping through the Broughton Archipeligo Marine National Park. Campsites are wild but comfortable with plenty of driftwood available for those evenings round the fire. It’s a long way to go from the UK but well worth the effort as the wildlife here is intact with natural forests, shorelines and habitats allowing umbrella species, such as Bear, Eagles and Whales, to flourish.
