Testimonials

what a great few days up in the most amazing part of Scotland. Thank you for all the guidance and encouragement to push myself more than I thought I could. Great to crampon around the hills and get involved in some serious real world navigation. Highlight was gazing across to Bein MacDhui from Cairn Toul having been there 24 hours earlier! Coming back for more! James Halliwell. Feb 2025

Cairngorm Winter walking

Words can't describe fully the wildness of this extreme place. From sunkissed snowy vistas one minute to white out blizzard the next! What a buzz - all wrapped up with goggles on and spikes on my feet - felt like Scott of the antarctic! Learned so much from your careful, informative instruction and enjoyed every wind swept minute. Trip Description

Winter on the highest plateau in the British Isles is a challenging & unique adventure. Spectacular snowbound mountains rise to over 4000 feet in a sub arctic environment offering big days and remote Munro summits.

We'll plan lightweight day ascents taking all of the essential safety equipment as part of a plan to ascend as many summits as we can over the 4 days of this trip. Part of this experience is learning how to safely walk in crampons while carrying an ice axe allowing us to negotiate all of the variable snow types that a Cairngorm winter throws at us.

Navigating to a summit in a white out can be both exciting and a bit nerve racking too. However, with expert guidance, you'll be able to do this under supervision with confidence inspiring guiding along the way.

Plans will be formed according to what the weather allows and you'll be fully involved in the process allowing a chance to develop your own skills along the way.

This trip meets in Aviemore on a Sunday morning and runs through until finish on the following Wednesday afternoon. We'll pick you up at your accommodation (book this independantly) or meet at Tiso car park (outdoor shop in Aviemore) prior to driving you to the mountain day start point.

Transfers are free for those who don't have a car!

If you're flying in to Inverness on the Saturday we will also pick you up in the city on Sunday morning prior to going to Aviemore and we'll drop you off back in Inverness ready for your next flight. During the trip we'll also collect you and drop you off each day at the accommodation you've booked in to.
